The Auris 2015 Facelift – Coming Soon!

If you felt the current Toyota Auris was a bit angry and angular, as I do – brace yourself for an even “angrier” version! The wraps have been lifted off the New 2015 Facelift Auris at the Geneva Motor Show currently underway in Switzerland. And you will either hate it or love it. But we love it!

Not as radical as the new Yaris and Aygo with the huge X sprawled, front grille, the Auris look can be thought of as a mid-life nip and tuck, that will keep it fresh for the next couple of years. Prominent in front is a re-designed grille with new striking LED headlights. The front also receives a re-designed lower bumper and grille with premium look high glossy finish. The side overhangs have been extended to give the vehicle a longer side view. The rear gets treatment with a re-designed muscular bumper and LED tail-lights.

The antenna is replaced with the popular shark fin styling, and the interior receives a new TFT multimedia screen on select models. The cockpit has a premium feel about it with extensive soft-touch materials.

Engine Upgrades

More importantly, the Toyota Auris facelift has gained a newly developed four-cylinder, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which develops 85 kW and 185 Nm of torque channeled to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. It enables the model to reach 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds before topping out at 167 km/h. In this specification, the Auris will return an impressive 4.7 litres / 100 km, CO2 emissions of 109 g/km and 106 g/km when the engine is paired to the optional Multidrive S gearbox.

Moreover, the 2.0-litre D-4D has been replaced with a new 1.6-litre turbodiesel rated at 82 kW and 270 Nm, enough for a sprint in 10.5 seconds and a 190 km/h maximum speed. This diesel Auris will return 4.1 litres / 100 km and emit 104 g/km.

Toyota has also upgraded the 1.4-liter D-4D engine which now meets Euro 6 standards and comes with a new turbocharger, different piston design and a new plastic cylinder head. These modifications have reduced frictions by 20 percent and have cut NOx emissions by 55 percent while fuel consumption has been diminished by 3.4 percent. The motor develops 66 kW and 205 Nm  which helps the Auris hit top speed of 180 km/h.
