New Yaris Pulse Family
It was always going to be a tough act to follow. The 2nd generation Yaris was introduced to South Africa way back in 2006 — coming on the heels of the discontinuation of an all-time favourite – the Toyota Tazz. When the plug was finally pulled on the Tazz, it had racked up a total of 200,000 units in South Africa at an average of 1,700 per month. The Yaris though hit the floor running — In its first 8 months on the market, it broke the South African record for the fastest new nameplate to reach 20,000 units. Today the sub-B segment is a fiercely contested arena. Automakers have in some cases several models competing for a piece of the pie. To stand out – it takes something a little extra special. And the latest edition of the Yaris (labelled as PULSE in South Africa) certainly has that oozing from every joint!
Here’s 6 reasons you’ll instantly fall in love with our new Yaris
New “Catamaran” effect front design
The Yaris has a sporty, striking new face. In official circles it’s referred to as “Catamaran”. What’s “Catamaran”? Directly from Wikipedia –The word “catamaran” is derived from the Tamil word, kattumaram, which means “logs bound together. Referring to the vessel pioneered by the fishing community of Tamil Nadu (India) around the 17th century. Today the design is mostly found on luxury and racing yachts.
See the resemblance?
The effect is evident from the rear too. Just don’t try taking your new Yaris Pulse for a cruise on the ocean!
