Hilux Dakar & Fortuner Limited Editions

The Toyota Hilux and Fortuner are together the two most popular pickup and SUV models in South Africa. Since the Hilux’s introduction to South Africa in 1969, it has failed on three occasions only, to bag the best-selling LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) title. In fact Toyota’s remarkable success and market leadership in South Africa, can be largely attributed to the trusty, tough-as-nails Hilux. And if your travels in South Africa happen to take you to the Free State, you will most likely be further convinced that the Hilux belongs right there next to Biltong, Braaivleis and Mrs Balls Chutney  as true South African icons.

And recently another proud “South African” story has been capturing the world’s attention. A South African built Hilux, driven by our own Giniel de Villiers has been giving the premier rally teams a lekker run for their money in the Dakar Rally, fondly referred to as the World’s Toughest Race. Giniel powered his Hilux to 3rd overall in 2012, and improved to a stunning 2nd in 2013. And to get us all into gear before the next edition takes place early in 2014, we have these special editions for you. What better way to celebrate a Dakar victory than with your very own “Dakar Hilux” ? Details of extras below the images.

  • Hi. I got a deal for a fortuner 2.5D here in randfontein, jhb. Think I can get you guys to better it?

    • Hi Hussain,

While we always strive to give our customers the best deal for their money, and as a customer, one is well advised to look at different options, and dealers to ensure you get the best deal - buying a car is a long-term decision with MANY more factors to consider, and you should choose a dealer based on that relationship instead of just saving a little on purchase. :) Just some friendly advice.

In any case, I do have your email address, and I will have a consultant contact you to discuss further. Thanks!

  • Hi there when you say ltd edition how many of the ltd editions of the for tuner are you planning on doing? Thank you
    Regards
    Nick

    • Hey Nick!

As things currently go - the LTD Edition Fortuner will only be available till Sept 2013. That's where the 'Limited' takes effect. Thanks!

  • Hi
Kindly give me a quote for the following vehicles:

    1. Toyota 4x2 DC Dakar (fully specd): diesel
    2. Toyota 4x4 DC Dakar (fully specd) diesel
    3. Above vehicles in the Amazon version listing the differences.
    4. Fortuner 4x2 and 4x4 diesel D4-D

Firstly on installments and secondly Cash.

I have a 2001 KZTE DC with 170000 kms for a trade in.

    Kind Regards

    Charles Munsamy

  • Hello. Just bought this ltd editiona fortuner and my insurance asked me for extras on the vehicle and I gave the above. Are they really extras as they come standard with vehicle or what? The premium went up when I mentioned those and their pricing e.g tow bar nudge bar. Please advise.

It also came without mats. Are the max standard or should I be buying them as extras?. How do I know if it's 2x4 or 4x4 on the ranges?

    • Hi Nwabisa,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the towbar, nudgebar etc would be considered extras, as these were fitted onto the Fortuner by Toyota for the LTD Edition, and do not usually come standard with the vehicle.
As for the carpets, the LTD Edition comes standard with front and back carpets. You should have been given this with the vehicle. The service plan covers you for all regular service items for a period of 5 year/90,000 kms. Any wear-&-tear items like brake pads, tyres, would be for your account. The warranty would cover you for any factory defect, or mechanical malfunction due to normal running conditions for a period of 3 years/100,000 kms.

I would recommend you visiting this site for more info on the 4X4 capability of your Tuna! http://4x4community.co.za/forum/

  • Also tell me what the service plan entails. Do I have to pay for it or is it free under the warranty?

  • Hello

The service was good. No hassles on the deal. The car was delivered on my doorstep but without mats. The limited edition mats and I am still waiting. At some stage they bought me standard fortuner mats which I refused. I don't know what they did with my mats and it is over a month now and I am still waiting. Omar's motor den . Can you supply them with a new set for me because I am not settling for anything less. And it seems they are not available at toyota accessories. This is becoming unpleasant after such good service and my floors are getting dirty.

    Hope you will help.

    • Hi Nwabisa,

Please can you send us details of the selling dealer, so I can escalate this with Toyota South Africa. Please utilize the Enquiry box on our main site to send through contact details.

      Thanks!
