Well I just watched this rather long (33 min) video, skipped some bits here and there – but nonetheless, worth every second spent watching. Highly, highly recommend you watch this video.
The plot: Jonathan of 143car.com is to spend one week driving through America in a Scion FR-S (Toyota 86, branded for the US), recording the sights and sounds around him, at the same time, getting a good idea of just what makes the 86 tick. He narrates out loud his feelings as he drives through America, culminating in reaching his goal of arriving at the Mazda Laguna Seca race track some 4000 km’s later. The result is an adventure of note, one which I would loved to have experienced. But alas, we’re not all so lucky hey 🙁
My highlights: 00:48 secs – Watch drift king, Keiichi Tsuchiya in a Corolla AE-86 toast another Japanese driver, Taniguchi in a Skyline GT-R, showing what made the original 86 a legend.
And at 24:13 into the video, Jonathan arrives at Laguna Seca, to be given a good shake up around the track by an ex-Nascar race driver. Fasten your seat-belts!
